- It must learn from a third-party documentation site (5,000+ pages of technical docs) so scrape --> vector db --> RAG
- Needs to answer customer queries accurately using this knowledge base
- Should auto-refresh monthly as the docs get updated
- Requires human handoff when it can’t answer [Optional]
- Budget: ~$40-80/month until this is proven out to replace a full-time support person or two
- Team: No dedicated developers, non-technical person (that’s me )
- Chatbase/CustomGPT: Way too expensive for this many pages ($200-500/mo)
- Building custom RAG with OpenAI: Seems complex for a non-technical person
- Has anyone successfully indexed thousands of external documentation pages within a reasonable budget?
- Are there tools that can actually crawl and maintain external sites (not just upload PDFs)?
- For those who built custom solutions - is it realistic for a non-technical person using AI coding assistants?
